Alejandra Gomez, Knowledge in Service of Society, Class of 2021

"The KISS program motivated and supported me in my passion for teaching and educational equity my very first semester at Duke. It was the first time that I felt truly validated in my choice to pursue teaching as a career, and it created the momentum that shaped my entire Duke career. It was an unparalleled opportunity to learn about Duke and Durham through a service lens, with professors who cheered me on throughout my entire college journey. It’s also where I met some of my best college friends, and where I grew not only as a student and educator, but as a human. The KISS program is a very special community, and even four years later, it’s one of the highlights of my time at Duke."
