"In many ways, my FOCUS experience formed the foundation for my Duke career. As part of the Genetics & Genomics FOCUS program, I was introduced to the amazing opportunities to explore my passion for biology at Duke. Our FOCUS dinners, guest speakers, and my two Focus classes allowed me to form connections with classmates I have since taken numerous classes with, and with faculty that have served as mentors for my research. The bonds I formed during FOCUS were invaluable in setting the trajectory of my academic pursuits and making Duke feel like home. I am so grateful for the experience."
